These are the design notes for the DoomCiv environment

First of all: this is public domain. I am in no way
connected to Microprose or Spectrum Holobyte. I am also
not responsible for any side-effects, these files
may have on any environment the will be installed in.
You may distribute this package freely, alter it (or delete
it) but please keep my name included. If you alter it, please
send me a copy. I'd like to see what my icons are used for.

Notes to specific unis:

Maultotaur : The Maulotaur closes the Gap between the Armor and
---------- the Howitzer. In my original CivII, I have included
an upgrade for the Armor, which gets pretty obsolete with its
firepower of 1. I have a unit called "Tank" which replaces the armor.
It has exactly the same numbers like the Armor, but a 2 for firepower.
The Maulotaur was not designed to replace the Cyberdemon, so it
has a 2 for firepower, but only 8 for attack.
Transport Sub : Another unit from my personal customized CivII. This
------------- unit comes in handy for several reasons. Its a sub, so
its specifically designed for sneaking into enemy territory with
a small force and wreck havoc there (usually 1 mech inf, 1 armor and
1 spy) In addition, it can carry missiles (it does not really carry
them, but they can land there and rest for one turn; if the sub moves,
the missiles stay behind)
Ettin : When playing Hexen, one might notice that Ettins have the nasty
----- habit of appearing somewhere in the level. This has been included
in the environment by putting them in place of paratroopers. Ettins can
be ordered to 'appear' (paradrop) up to 10 squares distance.
Horse Troops : These were transformed into the undead or ghosts. A
------------ Cleric unit will have double defense strength here.
All units were captured from the games DOOM, DOOM II, Heretic and Hexen.
Some images were obtained from the Web, but the sources are the same.
Althrough I obtained much data from these sources, composition
and final touches were very tedious and I spent many hours on it.
(that's why I decided to include my monogram as well)
Feel free to use and distribute them, but keep that in mind.
Land
####
I did not change the appearance of the land much, but I made it darker.
Oceans are not made of salt-water, but from some red substance that
appears when someone is being hurt badly. This looks quite evil, but after
some days, even a softy like me got accustomed to it.

The special landsquares (Pheasant, Oil ...) were changed in this manner:
those that gave a food bonus were transformed into life giving things
Osais-Medikit, Wheat-Stimpack...
those that gave a production bonus are now ammunition and armor
Oil-Bullets, Iron-Rockets....
those that gave a trade bonus are now power-ups and weapons

Cities
######
While tha land is dark and military units represent horrible monsters, the
cities are centers of light. The cities were modelled to appear as the 6
Elements (Water, Fire, Stone and Air - and two 'advanced' elements Earth and
Crystal) The four basic elements are the ancient city styles and the advanced
ones are modern cities. Since City Walls are now Magic City Defences (see section
'Civ Advances') walled cities are surrounded by an unearthly glow.
All cities were modelled with 3DS and then pasted and refurbished with Photoshop.
I did them all by myself, so I think I have the right to include my monogram.
Civilisation Advances

Some Civilisation Advances had to be adapded to the new military units and the
new City Improvments. The tech tree is exactly the same as in the original game,
only the names have been altered. One new tech has been included: Magic of Fire,
requires Momentum of Surprise (Combined Arms) and Miniaturisation. It allows:
